Paper Route To Tour With Owl City, Lights

02.07.2010 · Posted in Bands, Tours by Jordan Nimlos

It may seem an unlikely combo if you’ve ever heard Paper Route (undoubtedly you have heard Owl City), and indeed it is an odd match-up, but understandably so.  With a style falling somewhere between the pop-punk rock sounds of Paramore (whom they previously toured with) and the electro-synth pop, Postal Service-like sounds of Owl City and Lights, it is difficult to find a perfect match for touring.  Their programmed-rock sound feels like it would be more at home sharing the stage with the likes of Mute Math, but there are some benefits to touring with dissimilar artists.  As a fairly young band, they need to stand out to get noticed, and having a drastically different sound is one way that will happen.  The question is, will fans who come for the auto-tune electronic melodies of Owl City be drawn in by the alternative rock of Paper Route?  Hear the contrasting sounds Paper Route has toured with and will tour with below.  Visit Paper Route’s Myspace for more music and tour dates.

New Music Video From Spoon: “Written In Reverse”

02.06.2010 · Posted in Bands, Video/Film by Jordan Nimlos

The first video released for a song from Spoon’s latest album, Transference, is for the single “Written In Reverse.”  True to Spoon-form, this is not a video filled with special effects, but with their simple creativity and some good camera work to convey a theme.  The video is shot in a studio in front of a large mirror.  Watch it below via Pitchfork.tv:

Sade Adu Soldiers On February 9th

This is a guest blog post from Dane Nordine. He frequently posts on nosiecake and we hope you enjoy his posts as much as we do.

“I only make records when I feel I have something to say. I’m not interested in releasing music just for the sake of selling something. Sade is not a brand,” so says Sade Adu in the biography section of her band’s home page. So after a ten year hiatus and after releasing only five other studio albums in their twenty-five plus years together, album number six, Soldier Of Love, is set to be released February 9th.

Although she graces the cover of her new album with the same beauty of ’92’s Love Deluxe, she now comes across bolder, stronger, more determined and resolute.

Here is the first single from the album, the title track, Soldier of Love:

Outstanding Lyric: Tears In Heaven – Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton wrote this about his 4 year old son who died after falling from an apartment window. It is a reflection of just how much pain he felt after the incident. The result is a heartfelt, emotional piece that really speaks to the listener.

Tears In Heaven – Eric Clapton

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Will it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong, and carry on
Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven
I’ll find my way, through night and day
Cause I know I just can’t stay
Here in heaven

Time can bring you down
Time can bend your knee
Time can break your heart
Have you begging please
Begging please

Beyond the door
There’s peace I’m sure.
And I know there’ll be no more…
Tears in heaven

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Will it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong, and carry on
Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven

Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven
