Toki Wright Offers Name-Your-Price Album Download for Haiti Support
The enormous international support for the victims of Haiti during the aftermath of the country’s massive earthquake has been encouraging. From MTV’s massive Hope for Haiti show to Radiohead’s last-minute L.A. benefit show, support has come from all different types of artists from all different places.
Minneapolis-based independent rap label Rhymesayers did not miss the opportunity to help out either, and hosted a Haiti benefit show at First Avenue Nightclub on February 9th. Artists on the bill included Brother Ali, Sage Francis and B. Dolan, I Self Divine, Sims, and Toki Wright. Through ticket purchases and donations, Rhymesayers was able to raise over $30,000 for the cause.
Toki Wright didn’t stop there. The popular emcee decided to release his new 8-song EP BlackMale as a name-your-price download, with every penny going to Haiti relief efforts.
